Today, November 20th 2021, is Transgender Day of Remembrance.
In the year 2021, 375 transgender and gender-diverse people were murdered - a 7% increase from 2020 and the deadliest year on record.
The average age of those killed was 30, and a quarter (24%) of those murdered were inside their own home.
Murders of transgender people in the USA doubled in 2021, from 28 to 53. The top three countries are Brazil (125), Mexico (65), and the United States (53).
The majority (96%) of those murdered were transgender women.
Today, we honor the lives lost to anti-trans violence.
