Physical Distancing is Not Emotional Distancing!

Originally posted on PhD Balance social media platforms on 03/30/2020.

Physical distancing = good. Emotional distancing = bad.

The World Health Organization recently endorsed replacing "Social Distancing" to "Physical Distancing." Why?

Keeping physically apart from others as much as possible can help stop the spread of viruses. To protect our health (and those of others around us) we must avoid all nonessential gatherings and outings.

BUT we also need to protect all of our mental health. Social isolation can be really harmful to our stability, especially for those dealing with underlying mental health challenges and conditions.

Here is our challenge to you: talk with one friend or family member *today* via phone or video. It's not the same, but it can help you and others even more than usual.

Anyone been checking in on you lately? Has it helped?
