The Importance of Hobbies during Grad School

Meet this week's Grad Chat guest, Ariane Panzer:

Ariane (she/her) is originally from Austin, Texas and completed her undergraduate studies at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. After working as a research technician for several years, she joined the Biomedical Sciences program at the University of California, San Francisco. She is currently a 6th year PhD candidate in Dr Susan Lynch’s lab where her research focuses on functions of the early-life gut microbiome and its impact on the development of the human immune system in the context of childhood allergic asthma.


In her spare time, Ariane focuses on her other passions: science communication, equity and inclusion in the sciences, and open science. She also enjoys walks in the park with her dog Sophie, reading and discussing books with her book club, journaling, and recently has started watercolor painting.
